Input About that MariaDB 10.4.x Problem....

Gene Steinberg

Regular Pleskian
A few weeks back, I posted a message about installing MariaDB — listed at the MariaDB site as a stable version — and being unable to create/modify databases and users on my Plesk Obsidian server.

In response, rather than try to help, I was taken to task by a couple of forum regulars for "daring" to install a version of MariaDB not yet supposed in a Plesk release.

Where I did receive a possible solution, it was one that could actually damage my Plesk server installation.

For those wondering about the outcome, and perhaps you are having the same problem and don't want to suffer from unjustified forum attacks, here's a solution that worked for me and one other person who had the problem:

Restart mysql with --skip-grant-tables and reset the password to the one in Plesk.

A special thank you to Prashant from Server Management & Server Support Services - ServerManagementPlus for the solution.
