Issue I'm having trouble upgrading Ubuntu 20 to 22

Space Monkey

Basic Pleskian
As I understand 20 isn't supported anymore I try to upgrade to 22 following this guide but so far I have failed.

Tried the automated way but that isn't working for me, did all the steps and got disconnected after a while in Putty. Then when I logged back in and typed:
Code:
screen -r ubuntu20to22
It said there is not screen to resume.

Then I tried the manual way but a few steps I don't get, these are step 11, 13, 14, 17,

For instance step 11:

Code:
Replace focal sources lists with jammy sources lists in /etc/apt/sources.list and /etc/apt/sources.list.d/*.list:

I can't get into any of these directories in step11, 13, 14, 17. It all says permission denied even though I'm logged in as root.

What I'm doing wrong?

Cheers
