Yet ANOTHER issue with Plesk. FTP.. Permissions

This is most likely due to the Subscription not being set to use php in fastcgi mode (i.e. it is using mod_php instead). What happens in mod_php mode is that any files/directories created by a php script are owned by apache. These files can't then be modified/uploaded to by the "ftp username"...

Bind Error when starting. Cannot use DNS.

I don't know if my suggestion is good or not, but the option that I've been using when having this problem is simply to turn DNS off and then on again for the domain in question. It certainly seems to rebuild the required zone file correctly, at least for me :-)

Plesk 11.x Linux VULNERABILITY: JavaScript injection

What Abdi describes is the most likely reason for your problem. However, it is also possible that the bad guys have guessed or otherwise obtained an FTP username/password combination, or a Plesk username/Password combination. Check the logs you see in...

How to stop Plesk creating FTP accounts and remove existing FTP accounts

p.s. the home directory (as seen in /etc/passwd) is there the ftp root seems to go, so yes, you can change it. (except that's won't help at all, because the ssh key has to go there...oh dear. It is nearly 3am my time. I'm going to go to bed. Hopefully when I wake up I will make sense instead of...

How to stop Plesk creating FTP accounts and remove existing FTP accounts

OMG...right...that's awful. I didn't expect a user added in that way would automatically get FTP access. But it is "obvious" now that I think about it, and we then go back to what Igor said right at the start, with that ftpusers file :-) I have to admit I'm in a bit of shock here.

Help please - Apache httpd kills my server after Plesk and PHP update

I am VERY sketchy on how these things work. Very sketchy!! But......rightly or wrongly, I always thought that as Apache must still deal with the incoming requests in order to pass them, or whatever the term is, to the running cgi processes, the maxclients and other setting would still apply. If...

Where to buy Parallels Premium Outbound Anti-Spam

Please don't assume I'm correct, but I thought the product had been withdrawn. Your best bet would be to contact Parallels Sales

Help please - Apache httpd kills my server after Plesk and PHP update

The update and the problem may or may not be related. If you had not updated Plesk but had experienced the same problem, I would say that the issue is being caused by a site or sites being either attacked deliberately OR just extremely popular OR a bad search engine was trying to index a site...

How to stop Plesk creating FTP accounts and remove existing FTP accounts

OK, that's interesting. This is going to be down to enabling Shell access via Plesk as opposed to at the command line. And yes, in this situation, if the user has FTP access then they can change the key (assuming it is owned by the user) so that would be bad! For a normal user, keys would be...

    Plesk notification Problems

When I get an email from Cron, it says "Cron Daemon <[email protected]> in the "From" line, and then says "Cron <[email protected]> [command line]". This is how it works on Centos, anyway. So are the messages you are receiving definitely from Cron tasks? If they are, they would usually only...

    Error message: Can't create/write to file '/tmp - after overflow /tmp

Check to make sure your VPS has not been started in some sort of read-only mode. As root, you MUST be able to create files (if there is space on the filesystem) In addition, make sure /tmp exists (make sure you did not delete /tmp itself). Check ownership and permissions on /tmp (root:root...

    [POSTFIX] Find source of spam

Delete everything in the queue and check /usr/local/psa/var/log/maillog (and maybe /var/log/secure ) to see if you can see who is connecting to send the messages. You may find it beneficial to kill all postfix processes (restarting postfix is NOT enough) and then watch the log carefully to see...

    Buy license

You need to contact the Parallels sales department for information on keys. e.g. http://www.parallels.com/uk/about/contact/ (but find your nearest office from the map) I can tell you, however, that 10 domain Plesk keys are not available for physical servers - only for VPSes...

How to stop Plesk creating FTP accounts and remove existing FTP accounts

Your FTP users won't have shell access unless you specifically enabled shell access in Plesk for the account in question, which would be a bad thing to do. And no shell = no key file. Besides this, ftp should be limited to /var/www/vhosts/domain.tld/ -- I've just tested and I can't get any...

    free features

It actually depends on the key provided by your VPS provider. You should contact them to find out. However, in general, anything that says "Premium" is an extra-cost option, while the VPN and Firewall are standard features as far as I'm aware.

Getting the Admin Panel to only respond to ONE host, not ALL

Is there a particular reason you want to do this? I'm just curious. Note that Plesk does not use Apache for the admin panel - there is a separate webserver for 8443 with a separate configuration. I expect you might be able to edit the config, but since this is probably not a supported thing...

How to stop Plesk creating FTP accounts and remove existing FTP accounts

Make lots of copies of your key. Keep a copy on a USB stick. Keep a copy on your phone. Keep a copy on CD. On floppy. As long as it is protected by a passphrase, even if you lose track of a copy it won't do any real harm, especially if you don't keep a text file next to it saying "this is for...

How to stop Plesk creating FTP accounts and remove existing FTP accounts

Trying to understand public key authentication will make your head explode. I do not recommend it. It is painful. There are actually two things to change in /etc/ssh/sshd_config Change: PermitRootLogin yes to PermitRootLogin no This will prevent direct root logins. Next, change...

How to stop Plesk creating FTP accounts and remove existing FTP accounts

SSH port 22 might be considered the most dangerous port to leave unprotected. If the bad guys get in that way, especially as root, your server is toast. Some options to consider if you don't have a static IP (and indeed if you DO have a static IP): 1) Change the port number to something else 2)...
