so I had support look at the file. it is the same as yours. HOWEVER, the syntax error was real. it was in the log file. it is known fact, PHP line number, etc. is not always accurate. so just because the line number was wrong, doesn't mean the error is wrong.

thanks Kaspar, i added your php script to what I already had. so what is happening, PHP is NOT using date.timezone, it is using default? uhm, I guess I didn't know there were 2 settings for the samething? my issue comes from MySQL is using the default as well.
