AFAIK the 'log_date_format' setting only allows you to format the view of the current time. You cannot set time offsets.

Thought so. Tried to take a similar approach recently, but attempts to modify the extension were fruitless because Plesk decided (for some reason) to obfuscate the code.
I've explored a few different linux distros and personally find Debian the most comfortable to use.

Ok. I'm not really experienced with Wordpress, but it sounds like you're trying to implement a multisite setup.

Perhaps that was worded slightly poorly. The point I was making was that active users naturally engage with the gamification by virtue of their activity.

With regards to gamification, as an active user there is very little to actually do. Just watch the points/badges roll in. :)
These guides are looking really useful. I attempted some extension development work about 12 months ago but kept experiencing brick-wall syndrome. If these guides prove useful I might get the project restarted.
