Thanks, did just that, switched off the services (Tools & Settings \ Services). Everything's working back like it was. I also disabled the Anti-virus and the Webmail in the Tools & Settings \ Panel Components \ Mail Server to make sure I don't have any resources used by those services.

yep no problem with that setup. I've tried it on my Vista, Win7 and on servers 2003 and 2008 using the web platform installer and it's working without a hitch.
