I have a strange problem with the central dns. I use a centos 4 VZ to host the dnscontroller system. I have updated expand to version 2.1.3 build 4 and use standard RFC serial_type = rfc1912.

The problem is when I update or modify zones, the SOA serial is not updated and then the modifications are not updated to other dns servers. This is really a annoying, because I can make only one change per day.

Is there someone that has the same problem

    Thanks

    Hi

Do you still experience this problem?
Did you try asking support service for help?
Didn't you check if file modification date or zone content are changed when you perform changes in DNS?

    Hi

Yes File is modified, date and content also, but soa serial is not update or incremented to more than a value of 3 during the same day.

I have contacted the support and have no valid answer from them. Problem comes from the expand wich do not make a correct serial number.

From one day to the other, no problem, but during the same day, still same problem, and I need a master server.

your helpdesk and other discussion tell me to use a slave server, but I already have two other public slave server that get data from the central expand dns server which is not public.

My solutions is to write a script that check any modification of the file and then update the soa serial, but for now I have no time.

Here is some log from the dns server to describe the problem
