More qmail problems

P

problems

Guest
I have a recent plesk 7.5 install on a linux machine running centos.

Plesk seems to be functioning fine but qmail has not functioned properly since install.

It keeps failing and i am at a loss, all help gratefully received.

Problem 1.
A far as i can see the chkrcthosts file is not recognised, under /var/mail/plugins i do indeed find chkrcptto

If i cat the file i find a whole load of errors ie

Error: HTTPD_CONF_D not defined
Error: HTTPD_BIN_D not defined
Error: QMAIL_ROOT_D not defined
Error: QMAIL_MAILNAMES_D not defined
etc etc etc

I am sure ths is the cause of my problems and would be extremely grateful for any advice on correcting this, i did not do the install my self and im new to cmd line instruction.

Kind regards

First things first - do you have Watchdog installed and running? If so - disable it.

Also, check the log - /usr/local/psa/var/log/maillog

Hi There

Yes i do have watchdog installed, however i have never received any communication regarding qmail failures.

It's all over the forums, that's why the search feature is important. What communications were you expecting?

Try disabling Watchdog and see if it helps.

QMAIL

Further examination of the /usr/local/psa/var/log/maillog

Reveals that it is logging various problems now.

This was only recently invoked, after i found that it wasn't rnning from the original install.

Most recent entries:
imapd: connection, ip=[127.0.0.1]
imapd: 1140280132.793659 LOGOUT, ip=[127.0.0.1] , rcvd=12, sent=308, maildir=/
qmail: 1140280132.860246 status: local 0/10 remote 0/20

Watchdog Disabled

Hi There

Yes disabling the watchdog frees up the mail system,

I now seem to be able to send and receive,

Does this mean i have to run the system without the Watchdog??

chkrcpthosts yet more

Hi There.
Thanks for your input,

Sorry to meander off down the garden path,
Qmail issues aside, should the chkrcpthosts file be better configured?
Should i see such an array of errors?
Does Qmail care about it like i do?

Slightly concerned

If it's all working I wouldn't be too concerned. I have never run across this file nor had reason to. I'd say leave it be if it isn't causing any trouble.
