Plesk 7.5.4 Migration Problem

C

criticman

Guest
I have searched, no luck...so....

Moving from a Plesk 7.5.4 to another 7.5.4

Running migration manager on the new server...I have tried using the "root" with the selection circle, typing in "root", and typing in "admin"....all of which produce:
Code:
Failed to upload the migration agent
Cannot send scout to the remote host
Unable to connect to host xx.xx.xx.xx: you have specified incorrect username or password

So, then I tried logging in with a user account, since the old provider denied root SSH (unless you su), and it gives me...
Code:
Failed to upload the migration agent
Cannot send scout to the remote host
sudo is not allowed for user XYZABC on host xx.xx.xx.xx.

I have confirmed all passwords, and when trying with just the username, I tried it with just that name's password, as well as the password for it and for sudo.

Any ideas? I REALLY need to get away from my old host - 3 hacks in one week is 3 too many (especially when they disable my firewall control and their config prevented mod_security from installing).

Thanks in advance!

In my expirience, you will need direct root access to the host box.

Can you edit the sshd to allow direct root logins?

Hey bud;

Do the following to enable direct root logins:

1) Edit /etc/ssh/sshd_config
2) Find PermitRootLogin, uncomment, and set to Yes
3) Save
4) Reboot the VPS.

Or you could properly kill the main sshd process, and re-start it, but becareful, could lock your self out.

Hope this helps!

If you need further assistance, please notify me!

Have you confirmed that direct root logins work and confirmed the passwords are correct too?

Also, are you doing this from a VPS/Server or just plesk shared hosting?

Let me know... Feel free to email me.

Thx a lot for your fast response jlschwab.

It's confirmed... I can access my server by ssh as root

I have a Server of my own running Ubuntu 5.0.4

Thx in advance.

You say you can access your server via ssh as root...but which server are you talking about? the source-old or the new?

Just to confirm, you'll need root access to the source-old server.

i can acess on the source server...

indeed... i can access both servers as root by ssh....

Ok, I figured as much, but just wanted to clarify...

Thats really weird that the migration doesn't work then..

I know there at least used to be a way to migrate via the command line interface, and i've used it before, but its been a long time, I can't think of the commands off the top of my head.. although I did just wake up and its really early lol.

I'll look into this somemore...

Would you like me to professionally migrate this for you? I'd have to charge a fee to do so, let me know if you're interested in such services.

We can discuss details in PM if you wish.
