    1. The main difference between Plesk Automation and Expand is that Expand is a concentrator of customer and domain data provisioned on a number of Plesk servers it's connected to. Each of these Plesk servers can be used as an independent Plesk instance. Expand duplicates their data in its own database to provide a centralized view on the customers, subscriptions, domains.

In Plesk Automation we have only one Plesk instance responsible for remote provisioning of hosting services on a number of service nodes. On top of this Plesk sits the core of Parallels Operations Automation (POA), responsible for the centralized account management, infrastructure management, software installation and upgrades. POA core enables us going forward adding more services to the Parallels Plesk Automation product, currently available only in the full Parallels Automation solution. The nearest in the plans are IaaS and SaaS offerings.

    2. Yes, SmarterMail integration is available in Plesk Automation. The implementation is open. Using it as a sample you can attach other mail servers.

Plesk automation offers solution for shared hosting while plesk expand combines these servers into an integrated hosting platform.

    Hi Andrew,

Is Plesk Expand alive? I see that the last documentation has been released in 2008!
Also the O.S. support refers to old versions of linux.

    thanks

At the moment we support only migration from Expand to modern Parallels solution like PPA or PBAS (not sure). AFAIK we haven't any development activity for Expand.
