I have been running plesk for over a year now. After several recent updates from plesk, i noticed the servers health getting less and less stable. Plesk support has been horrible, takes forever to respond and their engineer see completely incompetent. The box has been no issue since it's inception until the last few plesk updates. The server has only 2gig ram, but that has never been an issue until the past few weeks. There seems to bee a memory leak that is not showing up in top. If I do not restart the server every few hours, eventually all services fail including SSH, so I have to power cycle the box (a very unhealthy shutdown).

I just booted again and top says I have 1402916k free. That will slowly decrease over time (sometime an hour sometimes several or up to 8 or so hours).

I leave top running with the "shift M" option and the only item hording memory is "gig" (tomcat) @ 6.3%. Nothing else seems to be growing in memory consumption but the free memory will dropped to 200k or less and then the system becomes very unstable, web pages load dog slow and email via pop on outlook takes forever to d/l or times out altogether. After a healthy reboot or an unhealthy power cycle everything is fine for awhile.

I don't know what the exact problem is, but I'd start by migrating to a distribution that is still supported with updates. Fedora Core 5 reached end of life June 29th, 2007.

Yeah the think that makes no sense about that is support is still supporting the box and they know the OS I have and said it's fine. Even so more confusing is that you can download the Plesk 9.0 Demo and it lists Fedora Core 5 ( http://www.parallels.com/download/plesk9beta/#fc )as a build option. Actually they still list Fedora Core 4.0!!

I never understand what the engineers/marketing folks are doing. Very little consistancy........

Hi,

Does server freeze if you stop tomcat? How many domains and mailboxes do you have running on this server?
Also you can try to find time when downtime is not critical and stop services like psa,psa-spamassassin,qmail and so on to see what service causes this. This could narrow search field.
