Quick hostname question

Has anyone done this without damaging anything?

Thanks,
Terry

Hi All,
When a user browses to http://www.theirdomain.com:8443 it redirects to https://www.myolddomain.com:8443 where I would like it to redirect them to https://www.mynewdomain.com:8443.

I have applied the full hostname change listed above and this does not solve this issue. There are entries in /usr/local/psa/admin/conf/httpsd.conf which mention myolddomain.com but changing them on my testing box and restarting apache also does not solve this issue. I have spent a rediculous ammount of time trying to find the answer to this. Could someone spare five seconds to explain this?

Regards,
Terry

a-ha!
I should've rebooted the machine because restarting apache within plesk doesn't restart the instance of apache that plesk runs on. It appears to work as I want now on my testing machine. Could someone please confirm that changing /usr/local/psa/admin/conf/httpsd.conf is the prefered method for changing the URL that plesk redirects to when moving to https?

Regards,
Terry

Yes, that is PSA's separate copy of Apache which is used strictly for the Control Panel interface.

Thanks for your reply James,
So you can confirm that changing the domain name with the httpsd.conf file will have no adverse side effects? I am fairly accustomed to editing these types of files but I am unsure how badly plesk reacts to changes. It is a production machine and I really do not want to break anything.

Thanks again,
Terry

i changed the name of my main domain to something else, but when i moved the dns for the original domain, i forgot to change it in plesk before hand.

now when i go to olddomain.com:8443 i get a dns timeout

when i go to ipaddress:8443 i get "the connection was refused when trying to contact olddomain.com"

when i go to otherdomainonserver.com i get the same thing.

I used the solution in this thread and it worked perfectly. Thanks for the help guys!
