What do you do after it expires? Is there a way to generate a new one easily or do you have to buy a new one?

If you are referring to the default certificate which is installed initially, then you can re-generate a new 'self signed' one. Using a 'self signed' certificate will still cause most browsers to give you a warning message about it not being a CA certified certificate though.
