Resolved Site only showing plesk default page

tonyolm

Basic Pleskian
We are a little lost over here.

We have one website which only shows the plesk default page. Was fine a few days ago and someone noticed the plesk default page. There's a correct index page and all the regualr stuff.

The domain has it's own dedicated IP which when you type that in the plesk default page comes up versus the site that was. Even the plesk preview button in the control panel shows the plesk default page.

All the other sites on the server are just fine and the server has been humming along for years..

what can we be missing here?

The site was working just fine

I have seen this happen occasionally. Usually all that is needed to solve this problem isd just a simple restart of the apache http daemon.

On, Linux Systems: (RedHat)

# service httpd stop
# service httpd start

If this doesn't solve the issues, you can also try:

# /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/websrvmng -a

This will force plesk to redo the httpd.include (apache configs as well).

So try both solutions, if you still have problems, feel free to contact me directly.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for your response.

Did those things before hand. Even went to the very extreme of rebooting the server in the wee hours of the morning to see if it made a difference. It didn't.

Now a few hours later the site is coming up proper. The very same website had this issue a week ago and then went away.

Really odd..

i did both of those things, and have reinstalled plesk 3 times now... with no luck. running on suse 9.3, 64-bit.

Hmm... there's a few things it could be.

PM me for contact information. We can take it from there.

We just moved the site to a different server and the issue hasn't happened since. Really odd though. I'm not using the same IP that we assigned before hand though

Check DNS, maybe your domain is registered to one IP on DNS and on another IP on Server settings. Could be a problem.

actually i guess plesk just doesn't like being behind a router... even though i had the DMZ open...

connected it directly to the dsl line and it works...

i assume when i co-locate i won't have internal ip's like a router would, i'll just get one, external ip. right?

thanks for posting... i appreciate the response.

Problem is this,
plesk doesn't read vhost's httpd.include file..

i am moving var/www/vhosts/domain.com/conf/httpd.include file to etc/httpd/conf/myown (i created folder named myown) and edit httpd.conf file..

i am changing include path and restart apache.. after this process server works perfect..

THANK YOU!!!!!!

I tried to update using the control panel from 7.5.3 to 7.5.4. It messed things up royally. I had to create a missing table, and many other things. I've been looking at how to fix the DNS issue for over 5 hours! The websrvmng did the trick!

Halelujah jlschwab !!!

I lost four hours going back and forth with my hosting provider this morning and you nailed the solution for us.

(# /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/websrvmng -a)

Awesome!

Glad I was able to help! ;). If you ever need anything plesk related, feel free to contact me any time 24/7! ;)

This saved my life, too. I have been having this happen on and off for a while and have been at a loss as to what to do when it occurred. Previously, I've just waited it out.

I thought I'd just point out that the service is differently named on my Linux system (I'm not sure if this is because this thread is a little older, or because I'm running Ubuntu), so you'll need to use:

/usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/httpdmng -a

Thanks jlschwab!

Thanks for the update, maybe you are running Plesk 10?

I still show the command as the original one on my Plesk 9 installs.

Glad I was able to help as well!

Yes, I'm running Plesk 10.1.1. That must be it.

Just for reference, in case another amateur like me stumbles desperately across this post, in Plesk 10.1.1 if you type:

/usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/websrvmng -a

then the system warns you that it has changed, saying:

WARNING: You are using obsoleted option, use corresponding option of httpdmng.

Thanks again. What would we do without fora and people like you?! :)

Hi guys,

Thanks for the above help - it worked, but only on a couple of manual domains until I tried to run --reconfigure-all, which failed (tried to be lazy, failed, d'oh!)

Now when I try and do --reconfigure-domain I get the following:

/usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/httpdmng --reconfigure-domain domainname.co.uk
Unable to register configuration file: template=domainVhost, domain.id=20

Is there any way around this so I can get my remaining websites back up and running?

I got this several times with migrated domains and usually suspended.
The solution to go in PSA database. domains table and try to get that domain name ID.
Then move that domain to an another client and delete or remove back, this fix it usually.

Thanks for the reply Ivalics. Unfortunately I'm having to do all of this via SSH as my Plesk panel isn't loading (getting the error: This Panel instance is installed in a PVC Container. The current Container offline management settings make the Panel unavailable.)

Would you mind describing the steps and commands I'd have to use to achieve this? Thanks again.

Hello, you seem like a knoledgeable and helpful person - maybee you could answer what I am sure is a silly question from an inexperienced newcomer. I have a new VPS wit 123-REG and pleask Onyx. I have uploaded four sites and all of them display the Pleask default page insted of the site I put there.
I have checked (and had 123-Reg check) and they are OK. if I preview from within Pleask they work. I know I am doing something silly - or not doing something I should. Can you offer me any help? Many thanks
