I tried to install a couple of modules / components and templates in a mambo installation (added by application pack) but it always fails, giving different message.

something i m missing in configuration or it simply cant be?

not all directories necessary are writeable.

Mambo is installed as user.psacln but new modules install as apache.apache.

hmmm

well, thanx for indicating the thing, but doesnt it need a lot of manual work to be done? and i will have to change the ownerships etc?
