For the benefit of any other OVH customers, it appears deleting the backup storage and recreating it solves the issue.

Just wanted to comment I had the exact issue as above on a fresh install of Plesk 12.5.30, also on an OVH dedicated server like @foxlol. Xeon D-1540 on Debian 8.1. The fix above by @dash worked perfectly. Would be good if another KB article could be written that references the error directly.
