which ftp server? proftpd? maybe you use sftp? are the users in /etc/passwd set to /bin/false? /etc/proftpd/proftpd.conf DocumentRoot set?

[pmm] ftpFileTransferTimeout = 36000 in panel.ini did work. i have looked in the backups, but i never had a panel.ini. i had to create one. there must be something changed in the backup modul of plesk, which decreased the timeout time
