Thank you Plesk for the painless upgrade to v12 and the new features! None of my custom configs, permissions, or programs were mangled and everything is working. Finally with outgoing spam protection. I love it! Just wanted to say thanks.

Thanks for sharing. How did you determine the user wasn't matching to their id? I know by default ssh accounts also have sftp accounts, so granting the user a shell, will give them sftp as well, but perhaps this solution is more precise. I will look into the details further. Thanks.

Just uninstalled the firewall extension then reinstalled and it works now.

So what needs to be done? My iptables -L is blank, unlike my other servers. This is a new server with nothing on it. I don't recall having to do anything other than check allow all other incoming traffic in the firewall module to get my ftp to work on my other server. Firewall module policies...

I am managing several servers with both plesk and cpanel, and I can tell you they are both good and bad, and I don't prefer one over the other. They can speed some aspects of administration up, at the cost of their quirks, which aren't apparent at first. Just my opinion.

Well there is the option of using an account with a mailbox and adding forwarding so both accounts have a copy if one is emailed, or if you want both to receive email for each other you can create an email alias, but that my or may not be what you want.

How did you configure your forwarding? Obviously, you checked that pluto has no forwarding, but did this domain, or MX ever point to a different server that might have extra forwarding? Have you tested with a different account to forward to pluto to see if it's domain wide?

For anyone facing this problem. The upgrade removed all execute permissions on the webspace directory from guest, as well as some others inside the folder. You will need to recursively reset your permissions. Not very friendly of plesk to change file permissions, and remove all my php settings...

Plesk support claims this ability has been removed in 11.5. It would have been nice to know before upgrading. I saw no mention of this in the changelog/what's new docs. If anyone has a solution please share, I have since moved the hosted data to a new domain, removed the webspace, and re-created...
