  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Question Mail automatically secured by SSL/TLS?

Thanks Peter Debik >> ... to avoid browser warnings I'm not an expert and I wonder what browser warnings have to do with a mail client? Can you explain? So in other words I will have to buy an (expensive?) certificate to make SSL/TLS work?

Question Mail automatically secured by SSL/TLS?

Thank you Peter Debik Things are much clearer now. >> If you have a valid certificate for your Plesk host name installed ... Do I need to buy a valid certificate or can Plesk generate this certificate? >> If the client is using the host name where the SSL certificate is installed, but is...

    Issue Change host name?

Thanks UFHH01 for your nice answer. I tried a few things but still no solution ... and I found out something really strange. I will inform STRATO about "reverse dns entry for your IP to your desired hostname" but as far as I know the VPS is "as is" and they don't do any configuration. I tried...

    Issue Change host name?

Hello. I rent a VPS at STRATO. When I send someone a mail (from the server) quite often it ends up in the spam folder. The source of my mail says something like: Received: from my.domain.com (h1234567.stratoserver.net. [80.123.456.789]) Is there a way to change "h1234567.stratoserver.net"...

    Question Permission PHP settings

Hello, This page says: Common PHP settings management Allows the subscriber to adjust common PHP settings individually for each website (subdomain) in their subscription. Note: If this permission is granted, then the common PHP settings are not synced. This last sentence ... what does that...

    Resolved Mail Return-Path

Hello, Currently I have 2 websites. A primary (company) website and a secondary (product) website. I want all of my email traffic/communication to take place through the mailaddress of the primary website. The problem is that when I send mail (using PHP) from the secondary website, I can't...

Resolved Error, what does it mean?

I'll leave this topic for what is now. I assume we're talking about temporary connection problems on the Plesk KA side. I also assume Plesk knows about this issue now and will do everything within its powers to solve the problem. Thanks.

    Issue Fail2ban

I received the same message a few days ago. Seems like Fail2Ban can't read some characters in the log or something like that.

Resolved Error, what does it mean?

@IgorG Thanks for verifying! I just checked my panel.log and this night there was the same error again and also 3 days ago. So it's not really very stable. Apparently sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I hope that at least the problem will be solved on the KA side so things will get...

@trialotto >> Again, I must emphasize that the discussion is not worth it. The discussion about who's wrong or right is not worth it. I totally agree. Resolved How protect against invalid requests?

Hi UFHH01, >> Documentations, examples, ... have often space to interpretations and mine is ... No problem ... but your interpretation is incorrect. ;) Maxretry 3 means that after 3 invalid attemps (in the log file) the IP address is banned. So yes, the 3rd time indeed triggers the ban, not...

Resolved How protect against invalid requests?

Resolved How protect against invalid requests?

Hi UFHH01 Yes I see, but I'm not getting it :) If I by mistake make 5 mistakes I will be banned for 24 hours? Wow ... that's long. Customers will go mad if they can't use their mail for a day. Besides that ... a ban of 24 hours will mean this IP address will never end up in recidive jail...

Resolved How protect against invalid requests?

I understand ... this makes it actually quite difficult then to take proper action. You want a long findtime (a few hours) to block bots who try to hack for example once per hour. But then again ... when a valid user mistypes his password, after unbanning you want to give him 3 new attempts...
