  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
    If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

    Bandwidth problems

    Our server (dedicated FTP, 1000 Mbps switch/NIC) seems to offer no more than 1.2 MBps (~ 8 Mbps) download bandwidth. I presume that this is a provider issue (Strato, Germany), but to be sure I'd like to know if there are any knobs to turn in PLESK (latest version)? The only domain is assigned...

    Thank you!

    ftp_psa (xinetd => standalone)

    I didn't experience any problems so far with the xinetd version, but this server is going to be a FTP server in its own right, so making proftpd a standalone server makes perfectly sense to me. Also, I don't see any problems in such a configuration, so supporting it through the GUI/console...

    ftp_psa (xinetd => standalone)

    Yes, it did - w/o any adaptions. Should be part of PLESK's ftp_psa package...

    ftp_psa (xinetd => standalone)

    That's what I already did, and, starting proftpd from the command line works (as it would do if I started it from a rc script). However I want to have proftpd be configurable through "chkconfig" and "service"; unfortunately the corresponding script is missing from /etc/init.d (not included in...

    ftp_psa (xinetd => standalone)

    Glad you ask ;-) Our server will be a FTP (only) server with a lot of data flowing in and out. So using the standalone version - from my point of view - makes sense.

    ftp_psa (xinetd => standalone)

    No one? No "official" statements?

    ftp_psa (xinetd => standalone)

    After disabling ftp_psa with "chkconfig ftp_psa off", how would I add the standalone version (/etc/proftpd.conf.ServerType is standalone now) to the chkconfig database (no proftpd/ftp_psa script in /etc/init.d)? Of course I could start the server in some rc file, but I want to stay compliant...

    Disable services in 11.5

    Now, the point is, that I wouldn't like them to work at that level anyway. PLESK = OK, Console = BAD ;-)

    Disable services in 11.5

    Well, that's a pity. Not all our "sub"admins know how to do this using the console... Anyway, thanks for your answer!

    Mass-add FTP accounts

    Thanks, that was what I was looking for!

    Disable services in 11.5

    So, why is there no option to disable services? Where're the current docs?

    Disable services in 11.5

    Sorry, this is CentOS 6...

    Disable services in 11.5

    According to the docs, there are supposed to be buttons to stop, restart, start, and disable (=> "permanently disable") on the "Services Management" page. Here there aren't...

    Disable services in 11.5

    How would I permanently disable a service in PLESK 11.5? There's no button "Show all"/"Disable" in "Services Management"?

    Mass-add FTP accounts

    How would I add a mass of accounts to FTP, making them available to PLESK administration (simply adding them to passwd/group/... gives me access via FTP but not via PLESK)?
