Yes, I was also thinking about dependency / order problems. Could you explain to me how exactly MySQL is started? I can't find anything in /etc/rc*.d and it still (tries to) start. I also tried 'update-rc.d defaults mysql' at some point, but that didn't change anything. Is there some kind of PSA...

Thank you very much for your reply. I see a few differences to the problem described in the post and bug-link: * We can start MySQL normally. It just doesn't work on system startup. Even a simple 'sleep 30 && /etc/init.d/mysql restart' in /etc/rc.local does the trick (which is dirty, of course)...

These lines are from the lower log, which is after successfully starting MySQL manually. Only the upper one shows the crash.

One more try to push this upwards...
