I am about to move sites from old server, running Plesk 8.2.0 on Fedora Core 4 into a new server that will be Fedora 7 with Plesk 8.3.0. I see that migration manager should be used to transfer the sites. Is there anything I should be aware of before trying to do the migration?
For example: Does the FC4 -> F7 migration create any problems? Why is Fedora 8 not supported and might it work (unofficially)?

Hi.
See the following about how the server should be prepared for the migration:
http://kb.swsoft.com/en/2112
I'm afraid Plesk could not be installed on FC8 by default, but if you modify /etc/redhat-release (change the OS to FC7) it can be installed. Not sure about whether it can work. By the way, FC8 will be supported in Plesk 8.4 (rough release date is end of March).

And when Fedora 9 is released (alpha is already out) then the Fedora Project will stop releasing security fixes for Fedora 7. I don't see how people can keep up with Fedora on production servers. You have to keep upgrading your OS every year or you're running without fixes for known vulnerabilities. Better go with CentOS or some other distribution that has a longer lifecycle.
