• Please be aware: Kaspersky Anti-Virus has been deprecated
With the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.64, "Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Servers" will be automatically removed from the servers it is installed on. We recommend that you migrate to Sophos Anti-Virus for Servers.
  • The Horde webmail has been deprecated. Its complete removal is scheduled for April 2025. For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.
  • We’re working on enhancing the Monitoring feature in Plesk, and we could really use your expertise! If you’re open to sharing your experiences with server and website monitoring or providing feedback, we’d love to have a one-hour online meeting with you.

BIND, Courier-IMAP, etc did not upgrade well.....

.....that is a bit of under-statement.....

after 7 hours of p***ing about with PLESK, I managed to upgrade from 7.1.6 to 7.1.7 to 7.5.2 however.....

for those that have been browsing the forums, would have seen my posts in the 7.1 Reloaded Troubleshooting and Problems forums.

I now can't start BIND or Courier-IMAP :( :(

PLESK panel gives me this error for Qmail:-
Code:
Unable to make action: Unable to manage service by mailmng: mailmng: Not an executable file: '/etc/rc.d/init.d/qmail'
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
0: /usr/local/psa/admin/htdocs/server/restart_services.php:19 psaerror(string "Unable to make action: Unable to manage service by mailmng: mailmng: Not an executable file: '/etc/rc.d/init.d/qmail'")

and this for BIND:-
Code:
Unable to make action: Unable to manage service by mailmng: mailmng: Not an executable file: '/etc/rc.d/init.d/courier-imap'
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
0: /usr/local/psa/admin/htdocs/server/restart_services.php:19 psaerror(string "Unable to make action: Unable to manage service by mailmng: mailmng: Not an executable file: '/etc/rc.d/init.d/courier-imap'")

Upgrade log give the following:-
Code:
Upgrading crontabdone
Trying to change home directory for user psaadm... done
Trying to convert DNS zones to lower case... done
ERROR 1054 at line 1: Unknown column 'Show_db_priv' in 'field list' (this one line is repeated 18 times)
ERROR 1054 at line 1: Unknown column 'Create_tmp_table_priv' in 'field list' (again this one lines is repeated 18 times)

hope that helps

any help would be much appreciated

oh, one more thing..

I hvae been browsing the /etc/rc.d/init.d and both the files are there but, I just noticed that courier-imap, qmail & qmail-rpmsave all all 0 bytes in size !!!!

I have been trying to re-install those RPM, but I cant as the system says that they are already installed and I can't uninstall them...

how can this or any thing else be fixed?

After forcing the installation of the 7.5 RPM, courier-imap is not larger than 0 bytes.

Still no luck on QMAIL.

bby accident I dicovered that HTML documents and images would be served up so, I recovered an old php.ini files and overwrote the new one (after backing it up ofcourse). Now the websites work at least.

FTP is still down. but BIND, Courier-IMAP, APACHE are running....

So, what do I have to do to get FTP running again and Qmail.....

Someone please suggest something....

I still cant get the Qmail to wrok (as file size in **/init.d/ directory is 0 bytes !).

FTP is still down, dispite 3 more install/upgrade attempts.
proftpd.include & proftpd.conf are also both 0 bytes in size

Here is the content of the upgrade log file:-

Can any one see what is going wrong????
How can I get Qmail and ProFTP to install????

Right....

as it's seems it's just me in this thread babbling on about my troubles....

As mentioned in the problem with mail after upgrading thread. I have managed to get Qmail working by forcing the installation of older RPMs until they were successful and then upgrade them back again (just the psa-qmail rpms not all other aswell).

However this solutions does not work for me proftp problem...

it still doesn't work. When an FT client tries to connect, the domain name is resolved to an IP. then it says "awaiting welcome message" for some time before it tries again.

proftpd.include and proftd.conf file are both 0 bytes in size.

Is there any chance some one can post the content of these files for me to use or is this a sign of a more major issue?

Please, can some one suggest something
