CentOS 4.5 / PHP4 - Compiling with mcrypt & mhash

Does anyone have instructions on how to recompile apache, or install mcrypt/mhash to be included into a current PHP4 install on PSA 8.1.1?

Does anyone have instructions on upgrading to PHP5 with mcrypt/mhash support on a PSA 8.1.1 running CentOS 4.5 box?
