cURL problems Joomla 2.5.x and Plesk Panel 11.9

New Pleskian
Hi,

I am no developer (unfortunately) and I am facing a fairly big problem using Joomla 2.5.x on a CentOS 6.3 server running Plesk Panel 11.

My Joomla tells me that cURL is enabled but when I try to update Akeeba Backup for instance, that component tells me that I have to enable cURL or URL fopen(). In fact ALL update options don't work in Joomla, even from Joomla itself. Also, I even cannot do a clean install of Joomla itself :-(

I have checked all of the Plesk Panel forums and help systems, but I cannot figure this out. I am used to cPanel, but that is a very different animal.

Could somebody please help me with this?

This is the Joomla sysinfo about cURL:
