  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

Resolved Disable Mail Server - Allow outbound mail

stedotmartin

New Pleskian
Hi, I have recently created a Plesk server, however, it has no need for the mail server to be running as it's just a webserver. Is there a Plesk way of just disabling the Mail feature but allow outbound email via sendmail.

I hope to free up system resources.

Thanks.

mail systeme resources are very low...
and now, with spf, dkim, dmarc rules, you can't simply use php mail() or sendmail,
your mail have a great chance to be rejected , and never come in the destination mailbox..
and you encounter the risk to be marked, by your ip, as a spammer...and blocked by spamhaus rules..

if you want to send emails, enable mail features..
and use phpmailer class.

I agree to a large extent with the comments of @christian - but I would not recommend using phpmailer class.

Instead, I would highly recommend to adjust your web applications to allow them to send out mail via SendGrid - this is reliable outbound mailing, without any worries.

If you have WordPress applications, there is a nice plugin from SendGrid : SendGrid

The plugin works fine - make sure that you use an SendGrid API key (and not the SMTP option), to prevent that you have to install another plugin (which is a security risk).

Hope the above helps a bit.

Kind regards........
