Hi,
I need to update magento to 2.1.
I did not installed Magento 2.0 via Apps, because some issues I had.

Now if I want to install patch MDVA-532 I need to set some of prerequisites

• Set up cron
• Enter your authentication keys in the Admin
• Configure ulimit for the web server user
• Checklist

I did already for cron and auth keys, but now I need to set ulimit. But in instructions they lead to
/home/<username>/.bashrc

I don't have that folder in home. Only ftp and tmp.
I see this guide for ulimit, but I don't know is this same thing like Magento says.
