• Please be aware: Kaspersky Anti-Virus has been deprecated
With the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.64, "Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Servers" will be automatically removed from the servers it is installed on. We recommend that you migrate to Sophos Anti-Virus for Servers.
  • The Horde webmail has been deprecated. Its complete removal is scheduled for April 2025. For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.
  • We’re working on enhancing the Monitoring feature in Plesk, and we could really use your expertise! If you’re open to sharing your experiences with server and website monitoring or providing feedback, we’d love to have a one-hour online meeting with you.

Main wordpress plugins

Which WordPress plugins I should install on my website? I am creating my first website and want to get some advises about necessary plugins.

The plugins solely depend on what your website needs. As a rule of thumb, install as little number of plugins as possible, because each additional plugin slows down the website.

Most people like Contactform7 to run their contact forms, and many use Jetpack to extend a few Wordpress functions. You will probably need a Captcha plugin like ReCaptcha, and many people are using Yoast SEO. All of these have been a round for along time and can be considered "safe". But all these are purely optional, and they might not perfectly fit your needs.

When selecting a Wordpress plugin, two factors come into play: Watch out for the number of stars a plugin got (rating). Personally, I'd never even try out one that has less than four out of five stars. Also watch how many users have rated a plugin. If it is only a low number, you cannot be sure that the rating is accurate enough. Normally, plugins that have four stars or more and many ratings, e.g. >1,000, can be considered more or less "safe". Plugins with low ratings or a low number of users always pose a risk to the website's security. The same is true for themes.

After using Wordfence for a while, I can highly recommend using any kind of firewall plugin.
It's incredible how many login attempts a WordPress site gets from bots.

I can also recommend the Complianz plugin for Cookie notices.

Thanks Harm Jakob. I think World-fence is best choice because i am using it since long and fond it best. You can also try it.
