monitoring memory cpu and general load

Hi,

We have just got to the bottom of a problem where we ran out of swap space and physical memory on our server.

We used the sysstat package to eventually idnetify we were running out of RAM.

Does anyone know of any decent packages that will monitor:

1) Physical memory free (cache + free + buffers)
2) CPU load to ensure we aren't running at 100% all the time

sysstat does a great job for diagnosing problems historically, but it doesn't really fo it very proactively. It would be great if something could send me an e-mail when we were say 75% memory utilised or 90% on the CPU for more than 5 minutes.

nagios does something like this - but people say it is very hard to setup?

Anyone know any good software? Can Plesk do it?

Cheers,

Nick
