Panel Admin & User E-mail

Eric Pretorious

I've been chasing my tail trying to understand the link between the Administrative user (i.e., admin) and the Administrative user's e-mail (entered into the Profile & Preferences area [e.g., [email protected]]): Am I understanding correctly that...

  • Unlike standard users, the e-mail address of the Administrative user ([email protected]) can not be used to login to the panel?
  • The password for the e-mail address of the Administrative user ([email protected]) is also the password for the user admin to login to the panel?

How did everything get locked-in to [email protected]? Is it possible to change the e-mail address associated with the Administrative user (in the Profile & Preferences area) from me@mydomain to something different (e.g., [email protected])?

This is not as simple as it might sound: If I change the address in the e-mail field to [email protected] (in the Profile & Preferences area) and add a user account for [email protected]...
  • The panel treats [email protected] as an external address (even though it already exists [locally])!
  • And, if I attempt to change my e-mail password ([email protected]) I'm redirected to the user profile for [email protected] instead of the user profile for me@mydomain.
