PHP File Management

I like the Plesk Control Panel but have found myself recently behind a firewall were port 8443 is blocked.
I would still like to be able to manage files etc remotely. Has anyone tried installing another file manager. I tried one but I'm not sure about the permissions as most seem to use the apache user.

I'd like to know if anyone else has had to do this?

There is howto I wrote in their forum a year or so ago on how to install it on a plesk box.
