• Hi, Pleskians! We are running a UX testing of our upcoming product intended for server management and monitoring.
We would like to invite you to have a call with us and have some fun checking our prototype. The agenda is pretty simple - we bring new design and some scenarios that you need to walk through and succeed. We will be watching and taking insights for further development of the design.
If you would like to participate, please use this link to book a meeting. We will sent the link to the clickable prototype at the meeting.
  • (Plesk for Windows):
MySQL Connector/ODBC 3.51, 5.1, and 5.3 are no longer shipped with Plesk because they have reached end of life. MariaDB Connector/ODBC 64-bit 3.2.4 is now used instead.

Plesk backup for Linux, decompress " backup tar..." on Windows : Unexpected end of...

CerdanS

Basic Pleskian
Hi,

I have 3 Plesk 11.5 servers with backups on dedicated FTP sapce (on 3 different locations, one for each server).
I use Plesk Backup and it generates the backup files on external FTP servers without error :

- xxx.tar
- xxx.tar1
...
- xxx.tar32

But when I download these 32 archives with 2Gb per file, and try to decompress them, 7Zip tells me "Unexpected end of archive".
I tried on 2 different backups of same server with 7 days between backups, and on one backup from another server, same issue.

So my question is how to access to files, I just need to access to /vhosot/ for example to go get some files (in case of need).

In fact I can access to "some files", I think only these in .tar file... logically Z7IP extracts multiple files archive including tar.

Thanks for any kind of help.

Maybe problem in 7Zip? Have you tried to use another archivers?

Hi Igor, thanks for quick reply.

I've just tried with WinRAR on Seven 64 bits (another computer for see if PB don't come from soft and downloaded again another archive (a lot of tar) from yesterday latest manual backup), same result...

Exact message : "! E:\BackupFTP\2014-09-03 - SERVER 02\XXX.tar: Unexpected end of archive"

So I think the PB is corrupted archives ?

Anyway like 7ZIP I can enter and see "clients" (customers), and default skelete.tgz...

When I go in "clients", for some of them there's 0 bytes in folders (think missing files for corrupted archive, I think it only reads first or few .tarX and stops).

Any idea ?

Thanks again

There is added signature at the end of archive. This may be a reason.

I read something about on forums.

But how to decompress this, and why some folders are empty and when I go on FTP for example on domain name whiuch is empty on backup, I see files... tested on one archive.

The fact is than I can extract files (only the ones I see in archive), I think the signature blocks open up to end of archive so I can't see all files...

Any idea to try to decompress in command line, I tried some tar tools for DOS... same result.

If not, maybe a script to test consistency of archive on root of server, but backups are on other server via FTP... ?

My question is because I have some good customers and they have daily work on web interfaces so I cannot lost data (MySQL or files), I already manually update via scripts MySQL to 4th server but cannot update x times (Plesk Update + MySQL updates + Files + Mails... it will take too much time). So I'd like to know if I can test backuped files or if exists a tool to extract on the server in a temp directory the backup "without restore"...

Thanks

Consider upgrade to Plesk 12. There is great new feature - http://download1.parallels.com/Plesk/PP12/parallels-plesk-12.0-for-linux.html :
Now users can restore individual reseller accounts, customer accounts, subscriptions, domains, DNS zones, mailboxes, mailing lists, databases, files and directories of a site, and SSL certificates. These are restored without any change in other content and without a need to hack into Plesk's internal backup format.

Thanks, I'll try in a few days, I back to France monday, so 2-3 days for urgences and I'll try.
