Read write Drop box for clients

Hi all,

I have a client base with different needs.

1. I want a general folder where clients can upload and download files such as illustrator, Photoshop, Word docs.

2. Then I want a series of folders for confidential clients that are password protected.

3. When the clients get to the folders, they must not see other folder such as cgi-bin, httpdocs etc, as they may try to put their files into them.

4. Login must be browser based if possible for option 1. Not as important for option 2 but would be nice.


Appreciate any solutions for the above requirements?

Samba could meet some or all of those needs.. http://download1.swsoft.com/Plesk/Plesk7.5/Doc/plesk-7.5r-file-server-guide.pdf is the manual for setting up samba in plesk.

With this, you can create a directory on the server... say /var/shares/somedomain.com/ and control access to this and other folders to users that you specify.
