Running tomcat at port 80

I want to stop Apache and instead run Tomcat on port 80. I have changed the port of tomcat to 80 in the server.xml file. Stopped both apache and tomcat from plesk control panel, and then tried starting tomcat alone. But it causes the apache to get started, and the tomcat is not able to start any more.

pls help to solve this
