Smartermail 4

Has anyone installed this yet? What were the results? I currently have Clam installed, as well as the Spamassassin addon for Plesk (both features now included in the Smartermail app). I know I can disable them, but wanted to know if any conflicts will arise....

That is great news that it works. But what about Spam Assassin? Since it is built into Plesk, as well as Smartermail now, are there any conflicts? Same question for Clam (not built in, but installed, none-the-less).

SM 4 has SA and Clam built in, that runs a windows version that is single threaded, and is not suitable for servers that process relative large amouns of email. SmarterTools claims 40,000 emails a day with their implementation.

We install a virtual machine using VMWare to take advantage of multi-threading capabilities of the Linux environment on our Windows box.

This is really the best setup, but you have to dedicate atleast 128 (246 is better) of ram to the virtual machine.

It works like a charm.

But to answer your question, in some situations it may be better to allow Plesk to control spamd and clam, and in others, you can handle this through SmarterMail, and in others, you can use either a virtual machine or a dedicated Linux box for Spam/Clam administration.

There not any conflicts if you don't enable Plesk SA and Clam.
We suppose to integrate Plesk with SmarterMail SA and Clam for Q2'07 or Q3'07.
