  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

Some plesk niggles

Hi,

I'm having a few niggles with plesk and was wondering if anyone had experienced the same issues:

I have plesk 7.5.4 on Windows 2003 service pack 1.

One of the first problems encountered is creating an SMTP mail relay to external MS exchange boxes. As far as I'm aware this is achieved via dns.

ie: mx record = mx.domain.com

mx.domain.com A 123.456.12.3 etc?

I have disabled the mail part of the domain.

How do you set up smtp relays? Am I doing it right?

Second problem:

Having part a domain on the server and not being able to send email to it.

For instance if I have domain1.com in house and just want to point the A record at our server. This poses a big problem with people on that domain sending email to domain1.com. It just keeps bouncing. Again the mail and dns have been disabled.

These both instances seem to be because plesk is sort of taking over mail duties for domains. It’s rather annoying and im not sure of a solution to the problem.

If anyone could point me in the right direction or has experienced these type of things I'd be most grateful.

Cheers

Jon
