Upgrading to Linux Kernel 2.6.32-358.6.2.el6.x86_64 or higher not possible

New Pleskian
Hello!

I am trying to upgrade the Linux kernel of my vServer.

In general, all works fine, but during the installation I get the following 2 errors, and the update will not take place, the linux kernel stays the old version.

"grubby fatal error: unable to find a suitable template"

and

": command not foundel: line 4:"

My symbolic grub.conf file looks like this:
Code:
# grub.conf generated by anaconda
#
# Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file
# NOTICE: You have a /boot partition. This means that
# all kernel and initrd paths are relative to /boot/, eg.
#          root (hd0,0)
#          kernel /vmlinuz-version ro root=/dev/mapper/VolGroup-lv_root
#          initrd /initrd-[generic-]version.img
#boot=/dev/sda
serial --unit=0 --speed=57600
terminal --timeout=10 serial console

timeout=5

Can anybody help? Thank you.

Does anybody think that the empty lines in grub.conf may be the problem? I guess not. I removed them, the system boots fine, but the update is still not possible, resulting in the 2 errors I mentioned above.

Hi, I have the same problem (grubby fatal error: unable to find a suitable template) from some months; With CentOS 6+Plesk 11.x every kernel update, with CentOS 6+ Plesk 12.x every kernel update ...
More links about "grubby fatal error: unable to find a suitable template";

https://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=31723 I have tried "Template Stanza" but dont work for me
http://www.itekhost.net/grubby-fatal-error/ I have updated the kernel without the Grubby Fatal Error, but I think that this isn't the best solution...
https://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=47547 It's seem that not work with UPDATEDEFAULT=yes

Any other solution?

Yes, and I contacted with 1&1 with this info but they said me "We have others servers with same configuration and without "grubby fatal error: unable to find a suitable template")..." and they didn't solved it.

Everybody with "grubby fatal error: unable to find a suitable template" have 1&1 servers?
