Verify backup file (pleskbackup)

Can anyone confirm if it is possible to verify the integrity of a backup file generated by pleskbackup? I have just noticed a big change in backup filesizes and want to check the backup is running properly.

We are running Plesk 8.2.1 on CentOS 5.
