    Issue Wordpress 404 error Instead of Error 500

    Vanilla Installation of wordpress with default .htaccess. If wordpress can't connect to database It throw up Error 404 Instead of error 500 ( wordpress - Can't connect to database error ). Where Should I start looking ?

    I had password protected the root directory, now even after removing protection and restating IIS I am still getting password prompt. Kindly help.
