  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Question Catastrophic apt-get install removes Plesk??

I truly don't know. I work with a RHEL-based server and can't remember (or imagine) this ever happening. If the 2 packages are depending on one another, then I would assume installing or updating a component would result in updating the other component. But ... I'm going offline now ... thanks...

Question Catastrophic apt-get install removes Plesk??

You could be right. I truly don't know. It sounds to me as if the mytop package isn't configured correctly then. Are mytop and MaridDB from the same company? If not, I assume no modifications were made to MariaDB.

Question Catastrophic apt-get install removes Plesk??

    3. Update the current package? I don't know what mytop is or does ... but it feels strange that 1 install can remove so many other components.

Question Catastrophic apt-get install removes Plesk??

By not cooperating with it :) Why would you cooperate with a package that causes conflicts?

Question Catastrophic apt-get install removes Plesk??

So glad with Google Translate :) I get that ... but what I mean is ... if I build package A and it conflicts with package X, then why would I let package A interfere with package X? If I know it would conflict, I would ignore the package (instead of removing it), or update the package to a...

Question Catastrophic apt-get install removes Plesk??

Still thinking this over ... over the years I have installed many hundreds of components as well. Never did this result in uninstalling Plesk components. I still think it is strange that an install of something could cause an uninstall of something else. I know the other way round can happen...

Question Catastrophic apt-get install removes Plesk??

@john0001 I'm afraid you are right haha :) Would be cool though if Plesk would analyze the outcome of the yum/dnf/apt (un)install command and if it contains plesk components then show the warning. But probably I'm dreaming :) Plesk has a GUI and recommends to use it for (un)installing...

Question Catastrophic apt-get install removes Plesk??

That is a lot of WHAT IFS. What if your hosting company burns to the ground? I agree with @Paul Larson that a simple component (un)install should never lead to an unintended uninstall of a complete servermanagement system. There should be some sort of protection mechanism in place. In...

Question Catastrophic apt-get install removes Plesk??

To Plesk team: Here another issue ... this time concerning a component uninstall. https://talk.plesk.com/threads/learn-from-my-mistakes.360698/ Probably not related, but just letting you know in case it does seem to be related. Seems strange that a 'foreign' component (un)install leads to...

Hello @Monty, Could you please help me one more time? I reinstalled my server. This time AFTER installing the OS and BEFORE installing Plesk, I installed MariaDB version 10.5. When I SSH this command: mysqld --version I get this result: mysqld Ver 10.5.10-MariaDB for Linux on x86_64...

    Resolved Enabling PHP?

Hi @Monty I already checked the link you provided. The handlers are enabled. I made a screenshot. The buttons to start the PHP-service are grayed out. When I hover my mouse over the icon it says "Service is not configured". Maybe this is normal behaviour because I have not setup a domain yet...

    Resolved Enabling PHP?

Short question. I installed PHP version 8.05 on my server (Updates > Add/Remove Components). I go to Tools & Settings > Server Management > Services Management I see 3 PHP-versions listed. One of 'em is the one I just installed (8.05). All versions are disabled and can't be enabled. I do not...

Interesting ... I am still testing some things and had to do a reinstall. This time I got the exact same issue as in your image. Apparently something changed in the Plesk-installer between a couple of weeks ago and this moment. Luckily, thanks to your post, I knew now how to solve it ;-)
