i do this on plesk 11 and now on plesk 11.5.30... did not have any Problems with that BUT normaly with minor-version-updates of mailenable i think you should wait until parallels will officially leave a message in the #mu update info.

When today autoinstall will install any MU on my server, the next run of autoinstaller will be on monday, 22nd october (8 days later)... I think, that is by design but how is it possible to override this to install any update earlier? I can only manually run autoinstaller... is this the only way?

Did You try to lock your domains, when you make a backup? You have the options in the BackupManager to lock your domains during backup... I did this and before I will choose this option permanently, i tested it and send a mail from an external mailadress to me... When Domains will locked...
