10.4.4 migration fails on CentOS 6 with cert-problem, running fine on CentOS 5

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION AND STEPS TO REPRODUCE
The post by ShoneA "Plesk 10.4.4 on CentOS 6 having numerous issues" mentions cert-related 10.4.4 migration problems. Those are reproduced here and block the 10.4.4 to 10.4.4 migration if target server runs CentOS6. Same result when importing backup files as alternative route for migration.
Exactly the same migration runs fine to a CentOS 5.7 64bit test server.

ACTUAL RESULT
Deployment of domains fails with cert error:
Error: domain "dddddd.dd"
Assertion failed: files.size() == 1

Error: hosting "dddddd.dd"
Execution of /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/api-cli/domain.php --update dddddd.dd -hosting true -hst_type phys -do-not-apply-skeleton -ip 11.11.11.11 -www-root httpdocs -ssl true -same_ssl true -err_docs true -maintenance-mode false -certificate-ref dddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd -login dddddd -passwd '' -ignore-nonexistent-options failed with return code 4.
Stderr is
Unable to find certificate

As a result the domain is empty, subdomains, webusers etc. are not deployed

Error:
