Apache SSLOptions not working?

Can't seem to enable...

SSLOptions +StdEnvVars

...either at the global level or using .htaccess. I have several applications (namely Miva Merchant and Celestia Content Management) that look for the presence of the HTTPS* environment variables.

Any suggestions?
