APC.so and undefined symbol php_pcre_exec

Trying to setup APC on a MediaTemple DV 4.0, like I've done many times, but running into this interminable error.

I've spent 3 hours trying to find a workaround, to know avail. Even tried going to an older version of APC (3.0.19).

Anyone know the solution to this???

Yeah, I saw that thread. This error is with apc.so. I've tried retrieving a known good copy of apc.so to no avail.
