• Please be aware: Kaspersky Anti-Virus has been deprecated
With the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.64, "Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Servers" will be automatically removed from the servers it is installed on. We recommend that you migrate to Sophos Anti-Virus for Servers.
  • The Horde webmail has been deprecated. Its complete removal is scheduled for April 2025. For details and recommended actions, see the Feature and Deprecation Plan.
  • We’re working on enhancing the Monitoring feature in Plesk, and we could really use your expertise! If you’re open to sharing your experiences with server and website monitoring or providing feedback, we’d love to have a one-hour online meeting with you.

backed up and restored -- how to update

Silver Pleskian
Hi there. we were going to migrate from an 8.3 server to a 9.5 server..
So, I backed up (using pleskbackup at user level) a 8.3 Plesk server and restored it to a 9.x Plesk server. It runs well and its an image copy, as far as I can tell.

However, due to some administrative glitches, the switchover never took place, people continued to use the old server, and worse, some people started using the new server.

Two months went by, and now we have an old server with a few new changes (new email accounts, new hostings, new web sites), and a new server that also has some new stuff!

So I need to find a way to update the new server, with stuff from the old server, without hurting the new stuff on the new server.
I thought of rsync, but that does not handle the plesk database..

Any ideas on how to do this gracefully?

Many thanks,
tk

Do you have a pointer on how to do this migration?

Thinking further, I think the only thing I can do is to backup things at domain level, and only backup/restore the domains that have NOT changed at the new server.. -t

Just migrate domains from old server to new which were updated, etc. You will have new server with domains which were hosted on this server + domains which were hosted on old server.
