  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.

Best way to Upgrade Plesk, hard drive, and OS

Hi folks, I'm looking for input on the best way and recommended order to accomplish the following:

1. upgrade plesk to 7.53 from 6
2. reinstall the OS and add a hard drive. (this box is a couple of years old and a fresh wipe is an easier path for me than trying to get all packages in sync.)

I don't mind the sites being down for several hours - none of them are high volume/value sites.

Should I upgrade the box to 7.53 first, then back up the sites? Or should I backup the sites while still at version 6?

Thanks for any input

1. Upgrade to Plesk 7.5
2. Backup the server
3. Install the OS with the new disk
4. Restore

Just in case keep the old disk with the working installation.

Thanks for the pointers. I suppose step 0 would be to back up as well, right? ;)

Yes. I'd suggest going 6 > 7.04 > 7.1.7 > 7.5.3 (rather than skipping any versions). If you're installing the same OS on the new HD you can just copy files across (quicker), otherwise use psadump/psarestore.

If you're just migrating a few domains you can use plesk migration manager.
