Question Can i delete /var/log/syslog?

Hello, i had probably a huge attack to the mail feature of plesk - and all had been written in the syslog file - so it have a space of over 400GB.
Can i delete /var/log/syslog?
And in the same directory, i have a syslog.1 - can i delete this file?

Can i delete /var/log/syslog?

No. It's better to use:

# cat /dev/null > /var/log/syslog

syslog.1 can be deleted.
