• Our team is looking to connect with folks who use email services provided by Plesk, or a premium service. If you'd like to be part of the discovery process and share your experiences, we invite you to complete this short screening survey. If your responses match the persona we are looking for, you'll receive a link to schedule a call at your convenience. We look forward to hearing from you!
  • The BIND DNS server has already been deprecated and removed from Plesk for Windows.
If a Plesk for Windows server is still using BIND, the upgrade to Plesk Obsidian 18.0.70 will be unavailable until the administrator switches the DNS server to Microsoft DNS. We strongly recommend transitioning to Microsoft DNS within the next 6 weeks, before the Plesk 18.0.70 release.
  • The Horde component is removed from Plesk Installer. We recommend switching to another webmail software supported in Plesk.

Issue Cannot Connect to Remote MySQL

WyattParker

New Pleskian
Ok before we begin, I'm new to IIS, new to Plesk.

I've got a website built in Visual Studio. I've tested it on a quick IIS install on my home computer and it's able to talk to both databases, one local and one remote.
On the remote server, I installed a Trial of plesk, the site is talking to the local database, but not the remote one. Now, I did do a test using HeidiSQL and am able to connect to the remote database on the webserver, so I know it's not a FireWall issue.
Any tips would be appreciated as I'm lost. Outside of Plesk, site works fine, inside, not so much.

Hi WyattParker,

Could you please provide some technical details? What error did you see when tried to connect to a remote database? Are you try to add a remote database to Plesk or use it in your app directly without Plesk?
