Can't use FTP for Backups with my username

I am unable to backup using the FTP Repository because of my FTP username. I am an adrive customer and my email address is my username and my understanding is that Plesk no longer works with an email address as a username. Is there a work around for this. Adrive will not change my username to a non-email.
