Dear Madam, Sir,

I would like to migrate all my sites, emails and databases from my old server to my new server with the Plesk Migrator tool and before transferring all my data, on my new server I would like to change my MariaDB 10.3.39 version to MariaDB 10.11.6 (on my old server I use MariaDB 10.11.5 version) and to change the MariaDB 10.11.6 version on my new server, I have a question about the MariaDB Server Repositories.

Indeed, on the MariaDB site I was able to find MariaDB Server Repositories of version 10.11 and 10.11.6 to configure and before the command on my Plesk terminal, I would like to know among three options which MariaDB Server Repositories is correct for the installation for version MariaDB 10.11.6?

Thank you for your answer.

Did you follow this guide to upgrade your MariaDB server?

It contains a link to the MariaDB repository builder:
Do you know if mariadb 11.0.4 is working with Plesk 18.0.57?

Plesk supports LTS (Long Term Suppor) versions of MariaDB:
Thank you.
Do you know why Plesk is taking so long to officially support the latest MariaDB databases?
It always amazes me how far behind Plesk is.

Hello Maarten,

Thanks for your response.

Indeed, yes, I have already read the Plesk support link that you sent me and now I would like the tracking and applied on my server and before application, I would like to ask you some questions please for clarify.

On step 5.2 of the Plesk support link, I see this configuration of MariaDB.repo:

[mariadb]
name = MariaDB
baseurl = Index of /yum/10.4/centos8-amd64/
gpgkey=https://yum.mariadb.org/RPM-GPG-KEY-MariaDB
gpgcheck=1
priority=1
module_hotfixes=1

As for me, when I created my MariaDB.repo file request on the site Download MariaDB Server - MariaDB.org, I received this configuration for Almalinux 8.9 with Red Hat Enterprise Linux distribution 8 for MariaDB 10.11 version:

[mariadb]
name = MariaDB
# rpm.mariadb.org is a dynamic mirror if your preferred mirror goes offline. See A mirror manager system to simplify the distribution of MariaDB binaries and packages - MariaDB.org for details.
# baseurl = https://rpm.mariadb.org/10.11/rhel/$releasever/$basearch

# gpgkey = https://rpm.mariadb.org/RPM-GPG-KEY-MariaDB
gpgkey = https://mirrors.ircam.fr/pub/mariadb/yum/RPM-GPG-KEY-MariaDB
gpgcheck = 1

My question is this configuration for MariaDB 10.11.6 version that I want to install on my server is correct?

Thanks for your answer.

Hi,

This config should work.

What do you mean Plesk is far behind? The latest LTS version 10.11 is supported:
I would like to install the 11.x series because it contains some optimizations from which I expect some advantages.

- MariaDB 11.2.2 Release Notes
- MariaDB 11.0 – new optimizer, new major version series - MariaDB.org

I understand the long term support mindset. Okay, the advantage is of course that Plesk updates it alone.

Would Plesk also update from 10.11.x to 11.x without asking?

I'm sorry for OFF-TOPIC!

My question thread - Question - Can i use MariaDB 11.x with Plesk 18.0.57?

The config file works for the 10.11.* releases.
Very good, thank you for your answer.

Then, as I see on the configuration I should go through 13 steps and on my new server I don't have any databases that are backed up and I just change the MariaDB version and my question is should I go through all the steps or some of them I should not apply? For example: step 1, step 3, step 4 ?

I send you the screenshot

There are always databases on a server when Plesk is installed. The psa (Plesk) database and MariaDB system databases.
So, please don't skip any of the 13 steps.

Ok very well, thank you for your answer.

Then, in step 7 I see the information - start an upgrade of MariaDB to 10.4 and my question is this step also suitable for the version MariaDb 10.11.6 that I want to install or this command only for the upgrade version level MariaDB to 10.4 ?

My other question regarding step 8, here I see that for upgrading to MariaDB 10.6 or newer they say that it is necessary to adjust the my.cnconfig file to meet the new requirements, is it that. in my case I should adjust or I can apply this command ?

I'll send you the screenshot.

Thanks for your answer.

If you've updated the MariaDB.repo to match the 10.11 release, it should work with the same commands.

You still need to apply the changes in my.cnf. Otherwise, MariaDB won't start.
The bind-address should look like this: bind-address = 127.0.0.1

Ok very well, thank you. So as I see on step 8 in the adjustment my.cnffichier is well indicated with bind-address = 127.0.0.1 and I can do the command with
# sed -i 's/bind-address = ::ffff:127.0.0.1/bind-address = 127.0.0.1/g' /etc/my.cnf ?

Then on step 5 I should put on text editor /etc/yum.repos.d/MariaDB.repo and under this file I should copy and paste RHEL 8 component for MariaDB 10.11.6 and my question is this that in my Plesk terminal I should perform the command only once with these components or each component for example

# baseurl = https://rpm.mariadb.org/10.11/rhel/$releasever/$basearch
baseurl = https://mirrors.ircam.fr/pub/mariadb/yum/10.11/rhel/$releasever/$basearch module_hotfixes = 1

#gpgkey = https://rpm.mariadb.org/RPM-GPG-KEY-MariaDB
gpgkey = https://mirrors.ircam.fr/pub/mariadb/yum/RPM-GPG-KEY-MariaDB
gpgcheck = 1

separately should I apply?

Thanks for your answer.
